After a double podium performance in the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama at the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club, Black Sheep Racing’s Laura Ely and Kenton King are looking for more this weekend. Set to take on the picturesque Sonoma Raceway in Napa, California, both drivers are looking to build on the momentum gained on the podium results in round one, race two just a few weeks ago.
After announcing a new partner last week, Vezer Family Vineyard, both Black Sheep Racing and Vezer will have product displays at Sonoma. Aside from the trackside representation, Laura Ely will be back behind the wheel of her familiar BSR #209 in the 992 Am class, while teammate Kenton King will aim for the top step of the podium in the 992 Pro/Am ranks.
“First off, I can’t wait to represent the Vezer Family Vineyard at Sonoma, and I really hope that I can celebrate on the podium and express my thanks to Vezer,” said Ely. “We have been working hard behind the scenes on partner programs, our driver development effort, and more and more it is nice to see it all coming together as we continue to move forward in 2023.”
Business Development Manager Chris Stiffler added, “We have a ton of people coming to the event to welcome Vezer and cheer on Laura and Kenton. We are all looking forward to making new friends and winning some races in Sonoma.”
Kicking off the traditional three-day race weekend, Black Sheep Racing will enjoy a pair of practice sessions on Friday before the serious competition starts Saturday. With qualifying sessions Saturday mid-day that will set the starting grid for race one and two, the first wheel-to-wheel action will commence that afternoon. Sunday will see the final green flag of the weekend with the second of two races, and hopeful victory for the newly minted Vezer Family Vineyard Black Sheep Racing program.
