It is a new season of competition for Black Sheep Racing as they kick off their 2022 campaign this weekend. Taking on the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West, Black Sheep Racing will enter three drivers in their hopes for race wins and podium results in a new year of competition.
“A new year of competition is here, and we can’t wait to get started,” explained Laura Ely. “It was a long off season, but we are ready to get going again. As a team we have renewed focus and forward thinking for a successful 2022 season with a bunch of new initiatives that we will roll out quickly.”
With a jam-packed schedule that will feature three event weekends in the next five weeks, Black Sheep Racing will commence their season at Laguna Seca before traveling to Sonoma Raceway and then clear across the country to Florida and the Miami Grand Prix alongside the FIA Formula One World Championship.
Piloting the Black Sheep Racing Porsche entries will be Laura Ely in the #09 entry alongside Steve Ayers in the #30. Kenton King will drive the #777 as the trio will aim high this coming weekend.
Ely is coming off a successful 2021 campaign that saw her earn the Vice Championship honors in the Yokohama Drivers Cup GT3 Platinum class to go alongside her 2018 Pirelli Trophy West GT4 Bronze Class title and 2019 Pirelli Trophy West GT3 Gold Class Championship. Ayers also brings success and experience to Black Sheep Racing finishing second in the 2021 GT3 Porsche Sprint Trophy West Platinum Masters class and adding a third place result in the 2022 GT3 Yokohama Driver Cup Platinum Masters Class. Kenton King, competing with Black Sheep Racing for a portion of the 2021 season and for 2022, will see action in the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West. All three Black Sheep Racing cars will compete in the Porsche 991 category.
“We are working on building our partner programs for 2022 and beyond,” explained Chris Stiffler, Owner of The Complete Driver, and Marketing Liaison for Black Sheep Racing. “The season is now here, and we are ready to go.”
