Earning both the Team Championship and Drivers Championship in 2023, Black Sheep Racing (BSR) is back for a new season of competition with a similar driver lineup. Leading the way into the first event of the season will be Laura Ely as she will be flanked by Kenton King in Nevada as Stephen Ayers is set to return to the squad later this season. Both Ely and King will battle in the premier 992 ranks in 2023.
Set to take on the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club in Pahrump, Nevada, Black Sheep Racing will begin their Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama this weekend. With the first wheel-to-wheel action of 2023, the powerful program is looking to carry the momentum gained from a solidly successful 2022 campaign.
“As a team, we earned several race wins, podium results, and both the team and driver championships in 2022,” explained Business Development Manager Chris Stiffler. “The goal is to continue that success this season as we continue to not only grow our program but provide value to our partners.”
While Laura Ely and Kenton King will level up in classes in 2023, the duo will enter the premier 992 class, with Laura bringing the title as the reigning 991 Class Champion with her. Though absent from the first event, Stephen Ayers will fly the flag in the 991 division as he returns to Black Sheep Racing later this season.
Stiffler added “A lot of racing is about consistency, and we have a consistent driver lineup from year-to-year. BSR has three talented drivers, all of whom could win on any given weekend, and we will push hard to start the 2023 season off on the right foot.”
With on track action beginning on Friday with a pair of practice sessions, qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel race of 2023 will take place on Saturday with round two on Sunday morning.
