After Wins in California, Black Sheep Racing Looks for More in Indy

Heading to the holy grail of racecourses, Black Sheep Racing (BSR) will take on the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. With three drivers under the BSR banner, Laura Ely, Kenton King, and Josh Conley will aim to finish their 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama season on a high.

“We are racing in Indianapolis and what else more could we ask for,” explained Business Development Manager Chris Stiffler. “We have three great drivers and with two races, six opportunities to win and stand on the podium.”

Coming into the weekend, Pro/Am driver Kenton King enters the event second in the Championship standings while Laura Ely enters in the same position in the Am championship. While the class championship is most likely out of reach for both, the goal for Indy will be race wins and podium results. Conley comes into Indy showing speed and progression and with a shot to finish sixth in the class championship.

Stiffler added, “The competition in this series has increased year-after-year and we have continued to show our persistence near the front of the field. We can’t wait to close out our 2023 campaign and start the progress of chasing more championships in 2024. We have a lot of plans on the horizon but none of them could be possible without the support of our drivers, crew, and especially our team partners.”

While Black Sheep Racing drivers will be a support program at the Indianapolis 8-Hour event, they will hit the track Wednesday with a trio of sessions including qualifying late in the day that will set the grid for both wheel-to-wheel races. Race one will take the green flag on Thursday afternoon with race two on Friday. Stay tuned to the BSR social media pages for news, information, photos, and results from the event weekend.

In other news, BSR debuted their new documentary, “The Climb” on their YouTube channel this week. The series focuses on their progress during the 2022 USAC Porsche Sprint Challenge series. Seven episodes remain in the series and airs on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. CST.
